COUNTING SHEEP explores the intersection of innocence, repetition and technological control in the era of seemingly voluntary participation in algorithmic and technological processes.
The motif of the childhood ritual of counting sheep functions as a reflection of vulnerability, conformity, and the subtle mechanisms through which individuals become passive data carriees - transferable units within technological infrastructures.
The "baby sheep cloud" figure invoke social and biblical metaphors of obedience while engaging with the infrastructures of cloud storage. Counting sheep functions as a liminal space between being awake and being asleep, in which consciousness, under a feeling of induced safety, becomes easier to shape through repetition.
The counting continues. Regardless of whether anyone is still awake and listening.
